100% Human Hands: Why SimplyCrochetCharts Says No to AI Images

Crochet triangle shawl pattern - 100% human-made chart by Simply Crochet Charts

Let’s talk about a major frustration facing designers right now... 😤🧶

Recently, our hard work was blocked on Ravelry because their automated system claimed our photos were AI-generated. To say it’s disheartening is an understatement.

We want to state this 100% clearly: We DO NOT use AI-generated images for our patterns. Period.

We firmly believe that crochet patterns should be natural, authentic, and original. When you buy a pattern, you deserve to see a real item made by human hands so you know exactly what you are crafting!

The only things we do to our photos are:
✨ Physical blocking: Washing and pinning the shawl to make those gorgeous stitches open up and pop.
☀️ Basic light & color correction: Adjusting the brightness so the details are perfectly clear for your eyes. But it is not AI generation.

🌸 Full transparency: Early on, we did experiment with AI just to add some decorative flowers to our very first stitch charts. The result? The AI messed up the actual crochet logic completely and made the pattern look absolutely awful! 🤦♀️ That experiment taught us everything we needed to know: crochet requires human hands, human hearts, and a human brain.

It is incredibly unfair when clean, high-quality, professional photography is flagged as "fake" by automated detectors. The only "blocking" that should be happening in crochet is on a foam mat with T-pins—not on our patterns by an algorithm! 🚫🤖

We pour our hearts into designing, stitching, and photographing these pieces. Thank you to everyone who supports real, human creativity!
